just me from kat pic of me and andrew

Hey there! As you might have guessed, I’m Hanna. I’m currently based in Indianapolis, Indiana, though I like to call myself “a homebody from everywhere”–I’ve also lived in Toronto, Montreal, Ireland, New York, and Philadelphia. I have a BA in English Literature from McGill University and an MA in Publishing from Rosemont College (with a concentration in children’s and young adult literature), I’m a graduate of NYU’s Summer Publishing Institute, and I’ve interned for such wonderful small presses as Running Press Kids & Teens, Quirk Books, and Tightrope Books; I would love to use these experiences to help all of you writers create the best books you can.

I’ve been a reader all my life–as a toddler I made my parents write down the names of everyone we knew on our Magna-Doodle, which meant that by the time I was three, my grandfather found me reading the Financial Post (and he made me read it aloud so he knew I wasn’t just looking), and one of my earliest memories is curling up in an armchair reading The Boxcar Children one morning before kindergarten. A year later, I discovered the Harry Potter books, and I’ve never looked back–middle grade and young adult novels, fantasy or otherwise, are still my favorite books to read and edit (current favorites include Natalie Lloyd’s The Key to Extraordinary and Jeff Zentner’s The Serpent King; for more, see my Goodreads page). My love for fantasy has shaped my taste in adult books as well–if you have something like Erin Morgenstern’s The Night Circus, Seanan McGuire’s October Daye series or Every Heart a Doorway, Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid Chronicles, or anything Sharon Shinn, I’d love to hear from you!

When I’m not reading (books or the Internet), I’m cheering on my favorite sports teams, unabashedly fangirling over multiple TV shows, listening to and singing music ranging from show tunes to pop/rock to filk to a cappella, and indulging in all things nerd–I’m a proud Ravenclaw and have wanted to be Hermione Granger since I was seven years old.
